The Optiva 2 I.V. catheter has all of the benefits of the electropolished "V" point needle, finely tapered catheter shoulders, thin walled construction, radiopacity and incorporates Ocrilon polyurethane.
The Ocrilon polyurethane used in Optiva 2 is firm for controlled insertion but softens whilst indwelling to conform to the contour of the vein, reducing vessel irritation and increasing patient comfort.
The catheter has a advanced snap cap design that provides convenient one-handed opening and closing. This reduces disturbance to the catheter during injection valve usage.
The luer lock stop cap, used to seal the hub of the catheter is located at the end of the protective sheath to allow for the immediate disposal of the contaminated introducer.
The flash plug contains a porous membrane to ensure a quick consistent flashback and an effective barrier against blood contact.
